Going Above and Beyond for Workplace Safety
G&M Service’s field staff is fully required to attend safety training as a part of our new-hire orientation, and no employee goes to work in the field without at least being fully OSHA 10 certified. All Field Supervisors are required to have OSHA 30 training completed. G&M Services maintains a full-time Safety Manager dedicated to monitoring safety compliance for each employee. To keep our safety-minded focus, the Safety Manager performs monthly training sessions and weekly talks to inform employees on new technology and safety protocols.
Silica Awareness for Construction Work
Silica is a crystalline chemical that is found in construction materials like mortar, stone, sand, and concrete. According to OSHA, handling it safely requires some safety protocol training to help protect workers. As a core-drilling and concrete-cutting contractor, the dangers of silica and its long-term effects on your health are a serious concern for our employees. As a part of new-hire training, all field employees are specially trained to learn about the dangers of silica in construction spaces. We use engineering controls lie in the OSHA “Table A” protocols to help control silica dust that might be on a job site. G&M Services also performs annual fit testing and other health checkups on all Concrete Operation employees to help ensure that they’re using the right protective equipment and are staying healthy throughout their time here.
G&M Services is one of the first companies to take on OSHA’s Silica Standards, and we continue to work to stay ahead of the curve for all things safety. We do this through research and consistent interactions with different safety organizations.
