A Step Above the Others
G&M Service’s field staff is required to attend safety training as a part of our current new-hire orientation, and no field employee goes right into the field without at least being OSHA 10 Certified. All of our Field Supervisors are required to have OSHA 430 training. We also maintain a full-time safety manager dedicated for monitoring compliance for every single employee. To help keep our safety-minded focus, the safety manager performs monthly training sessions and weekly toolbox talks to keep employees updated on new technologies and protocols.
Silica Awareness in Our Construction Projects
Silica is a crystalline chemical that is found in different construction materials like stone, mortar, sand, and concrete. Handling it safely, according to OSHA, will require training in safety protocols to help protect each worker. As a concrete cutter and drilling company, the dangers of silica and its big-picture health effects are a serious concern for our employees. As a part of all new-hire training, each field employee is trained to learn about the dangers of silica in construction worksite environments. G&M Services uses engineering controls like in OSHA “Table A” protocols to help control the silica dust on their job sites. The company also performs fit-testing and health checkups on each of our Concrete Operations employees to make sure they use the correct PPE and stay healthy throughout their tenure here. G&M Services was one of the first companies to take on OSHA Silica Standards before they were formally issued, and they continue to work to stay ahead of the curve with research and regular interactions with a few different safety groups.
