A Step Above the Rest
G&M Services’s field staff is required to attend safety training as a part of their new-hire orientation, and no field employee goes into the field without at least being OSHA 10 Certified. All Field Supervisors are required to have OSHA 30 training. G&M Services also maintains a full-time Safety Manager dedicated to monitoring safety compliance for all employees. To keep our safety-minded focus, our Safety Manager performs formal monthly training sessions and weekly toolbox talks to keep employees up to date on new technology and protocols.
Silica Awareness in Construction
Silica is a crystalline chemical found in construction materials like concrete, sand, stone, and mortar. Handling it safely according to OSHA requires training in safety protocols to protect workers. As a concrete cutting and core-drilling contractor, the dangers of silica and its long-term health effects are a foremost concern for our employees. As part of new-hire training, all field employees are trained in the dangers of silica in construction environments. G&M Services uses engineering controls such as in the OSHA “Table A” protocols to help control silica dust on the job site. The company also performs annual fit-testing and health checkups on all our Concrete Operations employees to ensure they use the proper PPE and stay healthy throughout their tenure with the company. G&M Services was one of the first companies to take on the OSHA Silica Standards well before they were formally issued, and continues to work to stay ahead of the curve through research and regular interactions with various safety organizations.
